- CoinTracking imports Coindex transactions via CSV export. Download your transaction history from the Coindex app and upload it directly to CoinTracking.
- Austrian flat tax: Since March 2022, crypto gains in Austria are taxed at a flat 27.5% KESt rate — the same as shares. CoinTracking calculates your Austrian tax liability automatically.

Coindex and Your Crypto Tax Obligations
Coindex is an Austrian crypto app and exchange headquartered in Vienna. As one of the few EU-regulated crypto service providers in Austria, it holds an Austrian CASP (Crypto Asset Service Provider) licence, making it fully compliant with MiCA and Austrian financial regulations. Note: Coindex has since ceased operations. CoinTracking still supports importing your historical Coindex data via CSV export.
Despite the regulatory status, Coindex does not file taxes on your behalf. Every trade, swap, or disposal you execute through the app creates a taxable event that you must declare to your tax authority — whether that is Finanzamt Austria or the German Finanzamt.
CoinTracking supports Coindex import via CSV:
- Coindex CSV export: Download your full transaction history from the Coindex app and upload it to CoinTracking for automatic processing
- All spot trades, purchases, sales, and transfers are supported
- Coindex can be combined with imports from any other exchange or wallet in one unified portfolio
Crypto Tax Basics: What Coindex Users Need to Know
Coindex primarily serves users in Austria and Germany. The tax rules for these two countries differ significantly — here is what you need to know for each.
Austria: 27.5% flat tax on crypto gains
Since 1 March 2022, Austria taxes crypto gains at a flat 27.5% KESt (Kapitalertragsteuer) rate. This applies to every sale or swap you execute through Coindex. Crypto assets acquired before 28 February 2021 benefit from grandfathering rules and are generally tax-free on disposal. Gains are reported to Finanzamt Austria via the Einkommensteuererklärung (E1 / E1kv).
Germany: one-year holding period exemption
In Germany, crypto gains are taxed as private disposal income under § 23 EStG. Gains on assets held for longer than one year are completely tax-free. For assets held under one year, your personal income tax rate applies (up to 45%). Annual gains below €1,000 are also exempt. German users report crypto gains in Anlage SO of their income tax return.
Cost basis and record-keeping
Both Austria and Germany require precise cost basis tracking for every asset. CoinTracking imports your complete Coindex transaction history, assigns cost basis using FIFO (and other methods), and tracks the holding period for every lot. This is the foundation of an accurate tax report in both countries.

How to Calculate Your Coindex Taxes
Every trade, swap, and sale on Coindex is a potential taxable event. Calculating cost basis, holding periods, and gains manually for every transaction is time-consuming and error-prone — especially when you trade frequently or hold multiple assets.
CoinTracking imports your complete Coindex transaction history via CSV, applies your chosen cost-basis method (FIFO, LIFO, HIFO, and others), calculates gains and losses for every disposal, and separates trading income from capital gains in your final report.
The result is a jurisdiction-specific tax report — PDF or Excel — that your accountant or Finanzamt will accept, with a full audit trail for every transaction imported from Coindex.
