The crypto space is evolving fast, and so are the tactics scammers use to exploit it. As cryptocurrencies gain mainstream attention, fraud attempts are becoming both more frequent and more sophisticated. Fake emails, phone calls, and chat messages are increasingly used to trick users and steal sensitive data or funds.

In this article, we want to raise awareness, help you recognize common scam tactics, explain what CoinTracking will never do and show you how to protect yourself and your account.

What Every CoinTracking User Should Know:

CoinTracking will never request payments

We regularly receive reports from users about phone calls, WhatsApp messages, or emails demanding payment. These are always scams.

Important to know:

  • CoinTracking will never contact you by phone
  • We will not message you via WhatsApp, Telegram or social media
  • We do not send payment requests via email, phone, or chat
  • There are no CoinTracking employees outside of our official team

If you receive a message like this:Do not reply. Do not click. And never pay.

CoinTracking Deposits and Withdrawals? They Don’t Exist.

A common tactic: Scammers claim you need to “unlock” your account or “request a payout” – usually for a fee.

Here are the facts:

  • CoinTracking is not a wallet or exchange
  • You cannot send, receive, or withdraw crypto through CoinTracking
  • Our platform is strictly for portfolio tracking, tax documentation, and reporting

If anyone offers you a payout or refund via CoinTracking – it’s a scam.

You’re told you have crypto waiting in a CoinTracking account? Impossible – CoinTracking is not a wallet service.

Fake identities using real names

Scammers sometimes use real CoinTracking employee names or photos to appear credible. Always check the email address! Official messages only come from our approved domains.

Official BaFin Warning on Identity Misuse

Germany’s financial authority (BaFin) has issued an official warning:

“Unknown individuals are currently contacting consumers via mail and email, offering to pay out alleged crypto investment gains for a fee. There is reason to believe they are providing unauthorized payment services. The documents – including a so-called ‘payout guarantee’ – are not issued by CoinTracking GmbH. This is identity fraud.

The BaFin, German Federal Criminal Police, and local authorities urge extreme caution when it comes to online investments.
